25 Cases of Locally Acquired Chikungunya Fever in Metropolitan France

As of August 17, 25 locally acquired cases of chikungunya had been identified in metropolitan France, primarily in the Gironde department, but also in the Tarn department.

The disease is transmitted by the tiger mosquito, which is present in 83 departments of metropolitan France and whose breeding season extends from May to November.
