As of August 3, 2026, France had identified 7 locally acquired cases of chikungunya, distributed across three outbreaks: 5 cases in Saint-Amans-Soult (Tarn), 1 in Prignac-et-Marcamps (Gironde), and 1 in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles (Gironde), the latter of which has since been closed. In addition, between May 1 and August 2, 98 imported cases were reported, primarily related to travel to Mauritius (28), French Guiana (22), Mayotte (17), Madagascar (10), Réunion (6), and Seychelles (3).
The remaining cases originated from other countries in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. The overall total for the period was 105 cases of chikungunya identified in France: 7 locally acquired and 98 imported.
