There have been 1,604 biologically confirmed cases of chikungunya in French Guiana since the end of January, with 67 new cases in week 33. The virus is actively circulating, with epidemics on the West Coast and Savanes, an outbreak on Cayenne Island, and sporadic transmission in Maroni. Dengue activity is low throughout the territory. No new cases of chikungunya were identified in the Interior, East Interior, and Oyapock in week 33.
