Authorities have intensified mosquito control efforts, fumigating 5,000 homes and conducting interventions in 638.
Costa Rica had not registered active chikungunya circulation since 2017. The public is urged to take precautions against mosquitoes and eliminate breeding sites. Symptoms include high fever, severe joint pain, headache, nausea, and general malaise.
