A rapid increase in chikungunya fever cases has been observed in Salta over the past two weeks, with a total of 413 confirmed and 25 probable cases reported in the province.
The outbreak is spreading to other jurisdictions, including Jujuy, Tucumán, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero, Chaco, San Luis, Córdoba, and the province and city of Buenos Aires.
Tucumán reports 36 cases, Jujuy 18, Catamarca 11, and Santiago del Estero 20. Nationally, there are over 540 confirmed cases of chikungunya, with 4,003 suspected cases.
Measures to prevent the spread of the transmitting mosquito are being reinforced.
