The ECDC reports 219,522 cases of Chikungunya and 81 deaths in 25 countries outside the EU/EEA as of August 5. July saw 6,746 cases and 4 deaths, a decrease compared to June (41,959 cases, 23 deaths). The Americas is the most affected region with 173,655 cases and 9 deaths, with Brazil being the hardest hit. France reported 7 cases of local transmission in Europe. Asia reported 45,435 cases with no deaths, with India leading the way. Africa recorded 432 cases with no deaths, with East Africa being the most affected.
