The first confirmed case of chikungunya virus infection in Guinea has been reported. A 68-year-old woman, with a presumptive diagnosis of malaria and no travel history, was identified through a research project. A blood sample tested positive for the chikungunya virus. The genome sequence was linked to strains from Senegal. Active human infection with the chikungunya virus had not been previously observed in Guinea, and its emergence is linked to the identification of Aedes mosquitoes in Dalaba. Further research and surveillance are required to prevent future outbreaks.
