A rise in chikungunya virus (CHIKV) cases has been reported in Kerala. As of August 4, 105 confirmed cases and 62 probable cases had been recorded in the state, with the majority concentrated in Thiruvananthapuram. The increase is attributed to favorable breeding conditions for the mosquito vector.
