The Ministry of Public Health of Salta reports 2,116 confirmed and 77 probable cases of Chikungunya so far this year.
The highest incidence is concentrated in the departments of San Martín (1,241 cases) and Orán (620), with active outbreaks in Salvador Mazza and San Ramón de la Nueva Orán. The disease affects all ages, with the highest prevalence in adults aged 45 to 65 (18.9%), adolescents aged 10 to 14 (16.2%), and children aged 5 to 9 (10.2%). There have been 120 hospitalizations and 47 infected pregnant women, in addition to 8 cases in newborns.
Ninety-three percent of the patients surveyed continued to experience symptoms post-infection.
