Descriptive analysis of mortality associated with the Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) in Réunion Island during the 2024–2025 epidemic. Sixty-five potentially related deaths were reported, of which 45 were confirmed. In adults (n=43), the median age was 81 years, with a mean of 11 days between symptom onset and death. Sixty percent had four or more chronic conditions. In adults under 65 years of age, alcohol consumption and cirrhosis were more frequent. Deaths were primarily cardiovascular (23%) or respiratory (21%). Two infant deaths were recorded. Population mortality was lower in 2024–2025 (5.36 per 100,000) than in 2005–2006 (32.48 per 100,000), despite a higher number of infections. The importance of surveillance and prevention strategies targeting vulnerable populations is highlighted.
