The Samar Provincial Health Office reports 329 suspected cases of chikungunya between February 5 and July 13. The cities of Basey and Gandara accounted for the majority of cases (199 and 121, respectively). No deaths were reported. The increase is attributed to the proliferation of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.
A peak in cases was observed in week 26, primarily affecting young people aged 10 to 29. June saw 206 cases and July 108, indicating ongoing transmission. An awareness campaign was held on July 20, 2026.
